On the afternoon of March 8th, busy construction workers could be seen everywhere in Zone A of the Tai'an International Convention and Exhibition Center, with a bustling scene unfolding on site. The LED big screens for the event backdrop and spectator seats have been completed, creating an electrifying atmosphere for the competition. In addition, construction of the main venue and various supporting facilities is also progressing rapidly.
The construction of the venue for the Taekwondo qualifiers for the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics in Asia officially began yesterday. With over 600 square meters of stage and 5000 meters of truss entering the venue, the visual effects for the core competition area are expected to be presented on the evening of the 9th. Over 300 various lights will provide illumination for the event and its broadcast. In addition to the highest specification of audio-visual equipment, the venue has also planned multiple functional rooms and appropriately divided various work areas for the event. VIP lounges have been prepared separately for international and domestic guests. A VIP viewing area has also been specially set up at the venue to provide the best viewing angles for domestic and foreign guests attending the opening ceremony on the 15th.
"We're expecting to work overtime tonight," said Lu Hongda, a staff member of the Sports Bureau's Competition and Training Section, at the venue setup site. Currently, all work is proceeding smoothly, with over 300 square meters of LED displays and 400 seats for spectators already installed. The main control of the venue construction department has been moved to the convention center to address any temporary issues encountered during the construction process. "Functional rooms such as the live broadcast studio, doping inspection room, competition office, etc., as well as the warm-up training area outside the venue, are still under construction. The overall continuous construction time is expected to exceed 40 hours, ensuring that the venue will be delivered up to standard by 8 a.m. on the 10th."
